ABOUT US

SilkRoad Equity is a private investment firm that invests in and acquires businesses in a broad range of industries and manages them for growth and profitability. We manage our own capital and were founded by Andrew J. "Flip" Filipowski in May 2003.

We invest in a wide range of opportunities...from start-ups to buy-outs, buy-ins, build-ups, spin-offs, and industry consolidations, focusing on those with high growth potential and strong management. Over the past 20 years, we have invested in or acquired over 150 companies with valuations ranging from $5-$500 million.

We seek investment opportunities which may be inappropriate for venture capital organizations, poorly understood by local buyout groups and/or overlooked by traditional capital sources.

We typically make $1 million to $20 million equity investments, alone or as part of a syndicate, and can go much higher given our stable of relationships with institutional investors. Our financial strength gives us the flexibility to provide follow up rounds of funding and support your business through differing market conditions.

We set a goal to improve the value of acquired companies in less than twelve months as part of our continued involvement in an operation's long-term value creation. All companies are performing better today than at date of acquisition.

We do not acquire businesses with a predefined exit strategy; rather, we focus on the entry strategy.  Beginning with a deep appreciation for the employee skill sets and customer relationships, we are intent on nurturing and supporting a company's growth and enhanced value.

Our primary functions include: exploring and analyzing investment opportunities, assisting in the execution of such opportunities and monitoring portfolio investments. We provide the ability and resources to add value operationally and strategically, a high degree of technology acumen and substantial transaction structuring experience. We drive a customer-focused, employee-committed philosophy in businesses that we understand and therefore, play a strategic role in lending financial and high-level management resources and expertise to help each company grow.
